What are Tooth-Colored Fillings?

In the past, metallic materials were used to fix tooth decay, but thanks to modern advancements, now we have access to more natural-looking materials that function just as well. Composite resin is a putty-like substance comprised of ultra-fine plastic and glass particles that is safe to use for white fillings. It can be color-matched to your little one’s grin so that no one will know just by looking that they had a cavity. They’ll have a perfectly repaired tooth that looks and feels completely normal.
The Process of Getting a Tooth-Colored Filling
This procedure is considered non-invasive and can typically be completed in a single, hour-long appointment. When you and your child arrive for their appointment, we’ll first examine and clean their mouth. Then, we’ll apply a local anesthetic to ensure that they don’t feel any discomfort during the process.
Next, we’ll remove any damaged or decayed materials from the problem tooth before sanitizing it. Once that preparation is complete, Dr. Murad will apply the color-matched material in layers to fill the cavity. This will be hardened in place with a special curing light and any excess material will be trimmed. Finally, we’ll polish your child’s newly mended tooth for a smooth, lifelike finish.
